Topic 10 : Topic: Why do we study gender studies

Gender Studies is one subject that has taught in the foundation year in our university. The word Gender refer to “ It was used as an analytical category to draw a line of demarcation between biological sex differences and the way these are used to inform behaviors and competencies which are then assigned as either ‘masculine’ or ‘feminine’.” We have to study Gender Studies for three reasons.

First of all, Gender Studies bring equality between men and women. As we know in the past some countries are gender stereotypes. It means that society not equal. For example, in China or India, a daughter may not allow learning high education as a son. It is true that a son will become a leader in the family, but they should consider a daughter who has enough ability and want to have the same education as a son. Moreover, it helps women and men understand about their rights. It is natural that women don’t strong like a man, but in front of the law; we have the same right such as political, or married.

Second, Gender studies improve education to women. We can see that women face many problems in living such as reproductive health. Reproductive health is critical to the health and wellbeing of women and children in the developing world. Some women may shy in public talk about reproductive health, so gender studies teach them brave to share about it. For instance, in Cambodia, has more percent of women who contagious HIV from husband and mother to children because of poor knowledge of it. In addition, women will have a plan about getting children, abortion and especially violence in the family.

Third, besides bring equal between man and woman, and education to women, it development feminism to societies. Now a day we see some position in our government has done by a woman. Move over, in some companies, the education department gives chance and encourage woman to work or study more than man. The most important our societies also evaluate woman more than the past.

It clear to see that, why we have to study Gender Studies because it brings an equal between man and woman, educated women, and development feminism to our societies. It has changed thinking of some people , and corrected some bad behavior that looks down or women, herself doesn’t valuate about her gender. That is grate that our study has that subject.

Topic1: How to write a good essay.

An essay is a piece of writing several paragraphs about one topic. It is divided into many kinds such as comparison and contrast, classification, the process analysis, cause and effect analysis and argumentative. Although it has many kind; it follows one form of writing which divide into three steps.

The first step call introduction. An introductory paragraph should be interesting enough to make the reader want to continue reading. It has four styles of introduction. There is Turn about, Dramatic Entrance, Relevant Quotation, and Funnel. Moreover, a good introduction containing the central idea is called the thesis statement which is express of an attitude, opinion, or idea about the topic. For example, the thesis is an answer to the question of the topic.

The second step call Developmental paragraphs. Its functions to explain, illustrate discuss or prove the thesis statement. it has some ways to break down the thesis statement such as turn thesis statement into a question and keep what topic and central idea are. For instead, the answer would be categories, advantages or disadvantages, step, process, reasons. Moreover, In order to have a good
developmental paragraph, the writer must provide an example, evidence, opinion of an expert, data to make the writing become more reasonable and strong. For instead, the writer can quote saying from a famous person to support your idea. In addition, great writing must have Coherence and unity. Coherence is gives the reader a sense of what to expect and, therefore, makes the reading easier to follow as the ideas appear to be presented in a natural, almost automatic, way. For example, it kind of arrangement that has the right grammar and uses transitions that signal. For unity is about how to write stand on one side.

The last is call Conclusion. it is wrapped up the discussion in an essay, bringing the development to a logical end. writer can restate the thesis statement and gather an idea from each paragraph. For example, it is a summary of every central idea. Furthermore, the writer can add some comments either advice.

Indeed, nice essay form concludes the introduction, body, and conclusion. The introduction have to attract, the body has to detail and supports the main idea and the conclusion need, to sum up, all idea from body.
